Ticks are definitely one type of pest that you don’t want around your landscaping. Ticks can carry terrible diseases and can be difficult to spot if they bite you. Tick control is especially important if you have dogs, as ticks will latch onto dogs and can then easily be brought into the house or transferred to other family members.
The Florida Health Department has a posted list of tick-borne diseases in Florida here. The list includes Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF), two diseases that have debilitating effects on humans. RMSF can include symptoms such as vomiting, fever, diarrhea, and a rash. If not caught in the early stages, patients may end up hospitalized. Lyme disease—if allowed to advance to later stages—can cause joint, muscle, heart, and brain problems and become a chronic condition. If diagnosed early, Lyme disease can quickly be cured with a round of antibiotics.
We suggest checking for ticks after spending any time outdoors in an area that has not been treated for ticks. Some places that do not have tick control (hiking, for example) may expose your family to bites. Watch any bite site and tell your doctor if a bulls-eye rash develops or if you start to experience any abnormal symptoms. Early detection is key in treating these illnesses quickly. If you have children or pets or spend a lot of time in your yard, you will want to take advantage of our tick control services. We can make your yard a safe place from ticks, so you can once again enjoy it fully.
